KATHLEEN RONCHI as YASMINE
Kathleen's quest for
dramatic tuition finally arrived when she was accepted into Box
Hill College's Drama/Dance T.O.P course - and her life changed
forever! She continued her studies at Melbourne University, B.Ed
(Sec) in Drama, Dance & Literature where she was awarded
the Dr Percy Jones Drama Scholarship.
Whilst teaching
part-time, she pursued an acting, singing and modelling career,
during which time she worked on Henderson Kids, Prime Time,
Chances, various commercials and in 1990 was named the
face of Sportscraft. A highlight of her acting career during
this period was playing "Helena" in the Australian
Film Corporation & Hawthorn Institute's feature film A
Midsummer Night's Dream. For theatre, she played lead
roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Skirmishes, The
Mysteries and Little Brother Little Sister.
She additionally wrote, co-produced and directed three Corporate
Films for Diners Club International, starring Tony Barber (Sale
of The Century).
After a break to attend to her maternal instincts, Kathleen returned
to the theatre after completing the "Acting Up" drama
class series with Sally McLean in 2003 & 2004. She played
"Emily" in P.S. I Love You, "Yasmine"
in the 2003/04 workshop performances of Chasing Pegasus
(a play in ten chords) and '"Mary'" in Brigit
& Benny (a modern faerietale) (short film entrant
Cannes Film Festival 2005). Vocally, she trained under Monique
Brunnel, going on to gain a lead role in A Grand Night
For Singing and "Milly" in Seven Brides
for Seven Brothers.
Kathleen's most
recent theatre appearance was playing "Christine" in
Dancing at Lughnasa for the Frankston Theatre Company.
